The main format for you to teach on OVCOSE is the course. It is a combination of activities and resources. It does not have a standard format of teaching on OVCOSE. It means every Guru can pick his/her own style without restriction from the platform.
However, for beginner Guru, the choices of technologies can be overwhelming. Thus, here are some tricks.
OVCOSE has built several tutorials for you to understand how to teach with OVCOSE. They cover technologies available to supporting teaching on OVCOSE, instructional design introduction, best cases and practices from the community, etc. You should really not miss them, because by studying tutorials themselves you are studying not only the platform but also are preparing yourself as an online teacher.
We create several course templates for Gurus to directly adopt and use in their own courses. This way, you can save some time in thinking about the structure and how to teach.
You can check all our template courses by clicking here.
Decide on the course template that you want to adopt, copy the name of the course.
Then, go to your own course, import the course template directly.
3. Build Your Own Course
Now, you know a little bit about technologies, about instructional design, about templates, you are totally ready to experiment with creating a course on OVCOSE.
Just go to your own course page, enable the course editing and start building contents. Make sure during this period, you course is invisible to the community.
4. Prepare to Launch
Once you are satisfied with your course's contents, you can make it visible and start welcoming students to come. You can also set a price to your course. We encourage all Gurus to share their courses at the price of 1 CHF to start.
5. Engage and Interact
After the course is online. If you have organize some activities such as online discussions, make sure that as a teacher you appear there from time to time to interact with your learners.
6. Organize a Local Event
Once you get a certain amount of learners to follow your course. It is absolutely a good idea to start organizing meetups or offline workshops to meet them in person.
7. Get Paid
Of course, OVCOSE will not forget paying your teaching once students start paying to enroll in your courses. Every three months, OVCOSE release the payment to local Gurus whose courses win paid learners.
